Update on status of mobile apps development

Yup, we hear you. Native mobile apps are important. Additionally, we are certainly not done with the mobile web experience. More enhancements coming that will make it easier to use. We believe in getting features out quickly and then enhancing them based on feedback. So thanks much for the comments!

Hi Team,

There is no much news about mobile app for a long-long time. Do you guys have any plans on delivering the apps?

It is 100% critical to have a mobile app for a GTD in 21 century…

In today’s build we made some important back end changes that will enable us to move faster on mobile. The previous client/server architecture was making our efforts very difficult. So we’ve taken some time to re-architect a good portion of the app. That has taken a good amount of time and a lot of refactoring of code. Today’s build, while not different on the outside is a big milestone! We can finally start making the progress we want. Stay tuned!

In the mean time, we’ve also made some recent improvements to the mobile web version of GTDNext. In the past week we’ve moved the folders from the left to the right side of the screen, to avoid issues with trying to press a folder and actually marking a task complete. Or vice versa. We’ve also fixed the annoying issue where every time you try to scroll you would see the keyboard pop up. Yay! Finally we’ve made the top bar with the filters and the panel button scroll with you, so you can always access those commands even when scrolling deep into your outine or next actions. Give it a try!

Please give it a try now, we’ve addressed both of these issues in the latest build. The panel bar now scrolls with you and we’ve moved the folders to the right side of the mobile web app, so it is less likely that you will press the wrong button.

The mobile app is certainly not perfect and not a replacement for native mobile apps, but I think most people will find it very usable.

Thanks for your feedback, it’s how we get better!

Nice! Can’t you do the same on iPad?

You seem to invest a lot of time and energy in the web app for mobile. In my opinion all that energy should better be used to develop a native app.
